The color is medium intensity salmon pink. The aroma is delicately berry and floral. Feel red flowers, cruciferous, fresh cherries, fresh red wild berries, cranberries and blood grapefruit. The taste is light, dry and berry lively, reflecting the aroma of the wine. Feel fresh red forest berries, red stone fruits and raspberries with citrus fruits. The aftertaste is medium length and berry fresh. The grapes are picked from various plantations in the Vinho Verde region and delicately pressed to avoid bitter tannins in the wine's taste. The wine is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel barrels and filtered before bottling. Quinta da Calçada is one of the oldest Vinho Verde wineries and was founded in 1917 by the Republican diplomat António do Lago Cerqueira in the Amarante region. Having studied winemaking in exile in France, he brought modern winemaking techniques to the Vinho Verde region, starting to use the traditional method in the production of sparkling wines and, inspired by the practices of the Cognac region, began developing grape distillates in French oak barrels. Quinta da Calçada was also the first wine producer in the Vinho Verde region to start exporting its wines. Today, the estate, together with 50ha of vineyards and the Casa da Calçada luxury hotel, belongs to the Mota family.
