A little incense smoke is added to the end of the aroma with hints of baker's spices. The taste is light, dry and berry lively, reflecting the aroma of the wine. Feel the red currants, red sour cherries, raspberries and cranberries. The aftertaste is medium intensity and berry lively with silky berry tannins. The grapes are hand picked from 10-25 year old vines and the wine is fermented in stainless steel barrels. It develops for 18 - 20 months in large (3400 L.) oak barrels. Since 2012, Ewald's son Johannes Kopp has been taking over the family's wine estates. The winery is considered by wine critics to be one of the most respected wine producers in the Baden region, especially as a producer of Burgundy style wines.
