Contains sulphites. The success story of Garda wine dates back to the ancient Roman era, when the wine enjoyed considerable popularity and the approval of Emperor Julius Caesar. After the Second World War, the Garda wine region began to develop rapidly and in 1966 the term GARDA was officially introduced to denote the wines produced in the lakeside areas. In 1996, wines from the Garda region were awarded DOC status to protect local specialties, including Garda DOC, Lugana DOC and Bardolino DOC. Today, the reputation of Garda wines has been strengthened again and they are increasingly recognized and valued in the Italian wine scene for their quality and authentic taste. Garda wine is made mainly from Garganega, Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio grapes, with the addition of lesser-known local varieties, adding a floral intensity to the wine. The grapes come from around the lake, where the freshness of the north is tempered by the proximity of the lake and the mountains. The composition of the soils varies: moraine and marine soils in the west, volcanic soils in the east. These special conditions give the wine an excellent balance, where mineral freshness blends with good structure and fullness. The result is a wine full of flavor and a pleasant texture.
