Brancott Estate is one of New Zealand's oldest wineries, with a history that dates back to 1934, when Croatian immigrant couple Ivan & Amanda Jukić planted vines on the slopes of the Waitākere Range west of Auckland. In 1960, grapes were already grown on 10 hectares, and Ivan's sons founded the Montana Wines winery in 1961. Plantations of Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir berry varieties were established in the Marlborough region in 1973, which later made an important contribution to the fame of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc in the world. In 2010, the Montana Wines name was changed to Brancott Estate after the Brancott Valley plantation. Today, Brancott Estate grows berries on 1,400 hectares in the Marlborough area. The appearance is young, with low color intensity and a pale yellow with a greenish undertone. The aroma is fresh, intense and grassy alive. You can smell blackcurrant leaves, tropical fruits, fresh citrus fruits, pomegranate, lime peel, gooseberries, rhubarb and nettles. The finish is fresh, aromatic and citrusy. The palate is more intense than average, vividly fruity and citrusy. Smell fresh citrus fruits, lime, green apple, rhubarb and ripe gooseberries. The aftertaste is medium-long and citrusy. The wine is fermented in stainless steel barrels, is partially malolactically fermented and does not develop in oak barrels.
