In 1820, John Walker opened a grocery store in Kilmarnock, Scotland, where he experimented with whiskey blending techniques and founded the Johnnie Walker family business. Since then, Johnnie Walker has been known around the world for its unique whiskey quality. In 1867, the iconic square bottle was launched and a slanted label was introduced to make the product stand out on the shelf. In 1908, renowned illustrator Tom Browne created the Johnnie Walker Walking Man, which is still the brand's signature. A hundred years later, by 1920, Johnnie Walker products were available in 120 different countries. In 2020, the world's No. 1 Scotch whisky, Johnnie Walker, received an unprecedented shower of gold medals at the prestigious industry awards competition, the International Spirits Challenge (ISC), with all the whiskeys taking part in the competition. 6 whiskeys and 6 gold medals! Symbolically, the victory came just as Johnnie Walker celebrated its 200th anniversary.
