The aftertaste is medium length and refreshingly fruity. The grapes are harvested from plantations following the principles of organic farming in the Penedès region of the Comtats de Barcelona growing area. The berries are fermented separately into a base wine and then blended. The second fermentation in the bottle with autolysis lasts 18 months. Bodegas Campo Viejo is one of the best-known wineries in the Rioja region today, founded in 1959 on the initiative of two Rioja winemakers, and its name refers to an old field: "campo viejo" - "old field". In 2001, the wine cellar was renovated and modern winemaking technologies were introduced. Bodegas Campo Viejo owns 54ha of vineyards in the Rioja region and cooperates with many Spanish grape growers.
