Founded in 1893 by Swiss blacksmith Charles Schenk. His son Arnold founded one of the first international wine businesses, buying and building wineries in different countries: Switzerland, France, Italy and Spain. Bodegas Murviedro is one of those that was originally founded in Spain in 1927 under the name Schenk España.. In 2002 the winery was modernized, renamed Bodegas Murviedro and today is one of the best known and largest wineries in DO Valencia / Utiel-Requena / Alicante. Dark ruby red in color with a slight violet undertone Ripe berry aroma with hints of overripe field berries, blueberries and blackcurrants. In addition, sweet spices with a hint of bitter chocolate and campfire smoke. The taste is dry, structurally berry and full, with balanced tannic acid. Dark overripe wild berries, black currants and wild berries dominate, sweet spices and crushed black pepper are added to the long and balanced aftertaste. The wine is fermented in stainless steel barrels and matures for 36 months in medium-roasted American (Missouri) white oak barrels.
