At the heart of Cognac are two legendary grape-growing regions, terroir in French: Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne. Rooted deep in the calcareous soil, the tiny green berries of the vines there promise an extraordinary richness of taste. The best cognacs and Remy Martin originate from this wonderland. The Cognac region is divided by level into six smaller growing regions. Rémy Martin is the only one of the major cognac producers that uses only grapes from the two best growing regions of Cognac, Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne. The reason for the rare full-bodied aroma of the distillates born from them is the right growing soil and geologically favorable conditions. The secret of Rémy Martin's strong but delicate taste lies in long-aged distillates. Remy Martin produces its eau de vie (the so-called cognac before being put into oak barrels) using the old traditional distillation method. It consists in the production of wine sur lie, that is, the wine is not filtered before distillation. In this way, the future cognac will have plenty of additional aromas, more viscosity and a longer taste. This distillation is more expensive, but the quality is better and distinguishes Remy Martin from many brands. Thanks to this kind of production, Remy Martin cognacs can be proud of their shimmering golden amber color, a rich set of aromas and an exuberantly long-lasting, mellow and harmonious taste. Contains distillates aged 4‒12 years, the average age is 8 years. More than 200 eau de vies are used to make this VSOP cognac. The aroma is fruity. Vanilla, nuts, licorice and floral hints of roses and daisies. The taste is mild and full, fruity, with vanilla and oak notes. 55% GRANDE CHAMPAGNE, 45% PETITE CHAMPAGNE
