CHARLES HEIDSIECK BLANC DES MILLENAIRES 2014 BOX

Charles-Henri Heidsieck's son Charles-Camille founded his champagne house Charles Heidsieck in 1851. Charles-Camille was a passionate French champagne merchant and he started producing his own champagnes with the same passion. His champagnes bore his own name and the reputation of his champagnes grew rapidly in Europe. He was very confident in the quality of his champagne and in 1852 decided to conquer the United States as well. He was the very first champagne merchant who decided to bring champagne to America. Well-travelled, fluent in several foreign languages and very open-minded, his business developed rapidly and soon he was nicknamed Champagne Charlie. At the Bordeaux exhibition in 1859, his champagne received a gold medal and Charles Heidsieck champagne had conquered the whole world and the champagne cups of European royal courts. Charles Heidsieck was a visionary, he decided not to buy farmland and left viticulture to specialists in his field. His skills in choosing wines and mixing them together made him think instead about wine cellars and storing wine in ideal conditions. He was looking for cellars with ideal humidity and temperature conditions and decided to buy the Roman Empire cellars under the city of Reims. At the same time as him, like Charles Heidsieck, only 5 champagne producers decided to invest in such cellars. This decision showed his good foresight and cunning to play the future in his favor. Due to this decision, Charles Heidsieck champagnes stand out from all others, because Charles champagnes consist of wines, 40% of which are reserve wines. Since 1990, all Charles Heidsieck champagnes have cellaring dates and corking dates as proof. Each Charles Heidsieck bottle is therefore unique.
