Champagne Deutz & Geldermann was founded in 1838 by two wine merchants of German origin: William Deutz and Pierre-Hubert Geldermann. The company was founded in Aÿ, France, the oldest Grand Cru village of the Champagne region. The company was named Champagne Deutz in 1873, when Réne Deutz's sister Marié married Albert Geldermann and the champagne house became a family business thanks to the marriage. In 1993, the champagne house was acquired by the Rouzaud family, who are also the owners of The Louis Roederer Group. 80% of the berries come from Grand Cru and 1er Cru vineyards. 45 hectares of private vineyards in Aÿ.
